Ward Fashions Shutout Against Hot Chickens
|
Tom Ward bent a little, but he didn't break against the Nashville Hot Chickens. The Sacramento Redlegs pitcher hurled a 2-hit, 4-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and tallying 7 strikeouts.
"Tom is good at getting out of jams," Redlegs manager Kyle Lucas told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
Ward has gone 8-5 this season with an ERA of 2.51 and 76 strikeouts in 100.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .225 against him.
