Rainbeaus Losers, 6-1, to Bakersfield
|
Cordell Dawson, who is tied for 7th in the PAAA in quality starts with 11, never let the Rainbeaus get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Nobles to a win, 6-1. Dawson, now 9-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up no hits, while striking out 4, walking 6, and allowing 1 run. The Rainbeaus, at 57-34, have lost 4 straight games.
Bakersfield center fielder Will Johnson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 64th hit of the season and put the Nobles ahead, 3-0.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Kansas manager Guillaume Colin.
