Baton Rouge got a valiant performance from pitcher José Zamora, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds. Ellenburg won the game, 2-1. Zamora threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Claude Richardson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Anthony Bailey suffered the loss. Jody Dunn finished the game for Ellenburg and earned his 22nd save.

Lou Pennington came through with a big-time hit for Ellenburg. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Ellenburg manager Pedro Rodríguez.

Ellenburg is 4th in the Premier AAA with a record of 48-44.
