Fighting Dachshunds Win Nail-Biter
|
Baton Rouge second baseman Mike Henshaw Jr. had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Ellenburg in 10 innings. Henshaw Jr. went 5 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Eugene Pearce picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Woody Lee was tagged with the loss. The Fighting Dachshunds are now 41-52.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Bud May was at the plate when Ellenburg scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Fighting Dachshunds to go in front, 7-6.
"It was terrific getting this win," May said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
