Syracuse Slaps 5-0 Loss on Jersey City
|
The Syracuse Starks topped the Jersey City Tritons, 5-0, in USPL Triple A action at Jersey City Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Syracuse pitcher Bob Porter. Porter got the win, improving to 5-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Nick Watson got the save, his 6th in 7 chances.
Tied up with the Tritons in the top of the fifth inning, the Starks got a boost from third baseman Milo Hamilton. With the bases loaded, Hamilton saw a 2-0 fastball from Stanton Maxwell and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Syracuse on top, 2-0.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Hamilton told the Syracuse Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."
The Starks improved to 47-49.
