The Montreal Machine used a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Brown to throttle the Bakersfield offense en route to an extra-inning, 4-2 win at Jerome Grounds. The win belonged to François Delattre in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Ed Dodman took the loss for Bakersfield. The 5th-place Machine now have a win-loss record of 48-48.
Montreal used a clutch hit from Gregory Hartman to snatch the win. The pinch hitter belted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Machine ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Hartman. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
