The Syracuse Starks picked up a win at Stark Stadium, courtesy of Jeffrey Garrett. The left-hander helped his team stop the Norfolk Pajaritos, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Garrett, now 6-3. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Earning the save was Mario Méndez. He's now cashed in 27 of 29 save opportunities.
Jeffrey Sparks cracked a home run off Doug Morgan in the bottom of the seventh. His solo blast put the Starks on top, 3-2. In all, Sparks had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Garrett said.
At 42-54, the Starks find themselves in 7th place in the Premier AAA.
