The Syracuse Starks beat the Jersey City Tritons, 4-3, at Stark Stadium. Syracuse shortstop Godspower Nwawuihe, the 24th overall pick in the 2057 draft, collected 2 singles and 2 doubles with 3 runs batted in. Syracuse reliever Mario Méndez was the winner. His record is now 3-5. The losing pitcher was Cristián Hernández. Syracuse, with the win, climbs to 32-64.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Syracuse. That's when Wayne Narborough hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Cristián Hernández to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Narborough said.
