Jeffrey Garrett never let Jersey City get something going. The Ellenburg left-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Fighting Dachshunds to a 3-0 win. The winner was Garrett. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was José Ferreira. With the win, Ellenburg pushed its record to 51-46.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Claude Richardson didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Jersey City trailing 1-0, Richardson retired Panas Rubanenko to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Richardson, with a wink.
