Patriots Beat Billy Goats, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Boston Patriots and the Colorado Billy Goats, Eric Buchanan, who finished 3rd in the PL in ERA with 2.53 in 2059, was the difference-maker. The Boston right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Buchanan, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Mark Sanders collected save number 3.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Nelson McCullough to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Patriots on top, 3-2. For the game, McCullough had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"No time for posing," said Buchanan. "The next game will be here before you know it."
The 5th-place Patriots have a record of 24-26.
