Hollywood Loses, 3-2, in 12
|
The Seattle Rocketeers took Arturo Gutiérrez's best shot and still were able to collect a win at The Hollywood Bowl. The final score had Seattle getting past the Shredders, 3-2, in 12 innings. Gutiérrez over 6 innings allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5. The win was credited to 33-year old right-handed pitcher Ben van de Loo in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Huibert Illidge took the loss. With the win, Seattle has a record of 24-27. Hollywood falls to 29-22.
In the top of the 12th, Seattle got a clutch hit from José Costa. The shortstop belted a solo home run, putting the Rocketeers up, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a decisive one.
"That's what these guys do," said Rocketeers manager Andrew Powell. "They battle, they fight."
