Late Heroics Net Voodoo 4-3 Win
|
The New Orleans Voodoo took Northern Virginia pitcher Derek Carter's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Voodoo Lounge. The final score had New Orleans getting past the Rainbow Mermaids, 4-3. Carter went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 4. Cipriano Rosas, now 3-2, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. New Orleans is in third place in the Premier League with a record of 33-22.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when New Orleans left fielder Iván Garza, facing George Atwater, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Voodoo the 4-3 win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Garza said.
