Rainbow Mermaids Go Down to Defeat, 3-1
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at The Voodoo Lounge. Fortunately for the New Orleans Voodoo, though, Gerben Pauw was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, to lead his team past the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 3-1. Andrew Stockton finished the game for New Orleans and earned his 5th save. The second-place Voodoo now have a record of 35-22.
Pauw had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 slider from Jorge Souza, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Voodoo a 3-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Pauw.
"We've got a great group of guys," Pauw said, "and we're having fun right now."
