Northern Virginia Nets 2-1 Win Versus White Walkers
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids downed the Buffalo White Walkers, 2-1, at Atlantica. Stellar pitching by Marc Clemow had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the PL with a 2.01 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. Tetsu Gato, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. The last-place White Walkers dropped to 23-35.
Carlos Rivera was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I liked his command," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister. "Marc was throwing strikes."
