Shredders Use Late Score to Top Patriots, 5-4
|
The Boston Patriots could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Iiri Lahti into a win. Instead, the Hollywood Shredders prevailed, 5-4. Lahti threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Hollywood reliever Maxwell Security was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was James Ellison. Arturo Gutiérrez notched his 16th save of the season.
Hollywood used the timely hitting of Sandross Bañaga to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shredders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We found a way to get it done," Bañaga said.
The Shredders sit in 5th place in the Premier League with a record of 30-28.
