Kingfishers Claim 6-1 Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Pittsburgh Kingfishers and Toronto Thunder.
Pittsburgh Kingfishers starter Lee Wood turned in a top-notch performance against the Toronto Thunder at Pittsburgh Grounds. The result was a win for the Kingfishers, 6-1. Wood yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1.
The Kingfishers got a big at-bat from shortstop Odell Papageorgiou. For the game, Papageorgiou went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.
Papageorgiou told a Pittsburgh Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The Kingfishers now have a record of 25-34 with the win over Toronto.
