Sixshooters Get One-Run Win at Providence
|
Field of Plenty was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Westwood right-hander Brady Allen helped his team edge Providence by the score of 2-1. Allen kept the opposing lineup in check. Allen, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 1st save of the year was Peter Dupree.
Westwood used the timely hitting of José Torres to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The other side played a good game," said Providence manager Arturo Rochel. "You tip your cap to them."
After losing, Providence is 1-1.
