Johnson Cracks 5 Hits

The Marquette Miners stopped the Westwood Sixshooters by a score of 16-3 at Sixshooters Stadium, with the lion's share of the credit going to catcher Gregory Johnson. The 26-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Johnson said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Johnson did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Sixshooters.
"Not much that I can say," offered Westwood manager Ricardo Vásquez. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Gregory Johnson singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Currently Johnson is hitting .268 and has collected 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and scored 12 times, while playing in 26 games.

Dolphins Ortíz Tames Arizona

Jorge Ortíz blitzed the Arizona Javelina at Goodyear Hanger Dome, pitching the Pine Island Dolphins to victory, 4-0. Ortíz went 9 innings to shut out the Javelina, striking out 10.
"I knew he had it in him, but it's still nice to see him put it all together," said Pine Island manager Ken McDowell.
Ortíz surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks in the outing.
This year, Ortíz has gone 3-5 with an ERA of 4.94 and has 54 strikeouts in 54.2 innings.
