Fat Cats Capture Close Win

The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Ottawa Fat Cats racked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Yakima Hops, 6-5, in 11 innings. Donald Hamm, who started for Ottawa, pitched effectively for his team. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Brian Pinkman in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ray Melton took the loss.
The Fat Cats relied on catcher Lien-ying Chua for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"We earned that one," said Hamm.
Ottawa is now 2-1.
