John Matthews had a hand in Toronto defeating Toledo by the score of 6-3. Matthews went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 2 runs. Ron Murphy, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save. Toronto is second in the Premier League with a record of 36-24.

Fuzzy Benas drove in one run for Toronto. The slugging second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gilbert Owen. It was his 20th RBI of the season.

"We're producers not directors," said Matthews. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
