William Maxwell was terrific for the Casper Ghosts in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Virginia Beach Whales. His performance earned Maxwell rave reviews. Maxwell, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks.

Casper used a well-timed hit by Walt Hill to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Ghosts ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Marv Bradford.
