Guinea Pigs Beat Miners, 5-2
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs racked up a win at Marquette Stadium, bumping off the Marquette Miners, 5-2. Roger Marshall, who started for Gwinnett, pitched effectively for his team. Marshall got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 6.1 innings. Marshall allowed 2 runs. Larry Pulsifer earned the save for Gwinnett, his 3rd of the year.
Gwinnett relied on the bat of Jakob Presser to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 3-2. For the game, Presser had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Gwinnett manager Pedro Vázquez.
The win takes Gwinnett to 5-1.
