The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs knocked off the Virginia Beach Whales, 5-2, in M3L Double A action at Experimental Stadium. Gwinnett pitcher and Blissfield, Michigan, native Glenn Lortkipanidze had an outstanding performance. Lortkipanidze picked up the win for Gwinnett, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Marshall Dooley collected save number 2.

Michael Frayo drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Gwinnett. The slick-fielding shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Eduardo Fajardo. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
