Flemate Lifts Farmers to 8-2 Triumph
|
Behind a fine performance from Mario Flemate, the Lancaster Farmers knocked off the Virginia Beach Whales, 8-2. Flemate went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Farmers. Jeffrey Young was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. With the win, Lancaster improves its record to 4-4.
With Lancaster leading 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Flemate hit a changeup from Johnny Bowling for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Farmers ahead, 8-1.
Flemate called the win "a collective effort."
