Eclipse Rally Late to Nip Fat Cats
|
The Northville Eclipse faced a tough opponent in Ottawa pitcher Lowell Martin, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Old-Timers Park by a final score of 2-1 in 11 innings. Martin went 8 innings and allowed no runs. The loss lowers the Ottawa record to 5-5.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Northville right fielder Keith Day, facing Earnest Sorensen, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Eclipse the 2-1 win.
In postgame comments to the Northville Times, Day said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
