The New Orleans Voodoo beat the Philadelphia Liberty, 4-3. New Orleans pitcher and Seoul, South Korea, native Soong-yong Yi led the way. Yi yielded 3 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-2. Jared Wilson was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Fred Burton dealt the Liberty a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and New Orleans leading 3-2, Burton, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, hit a 0-2 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"Soong-yong throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims.
Philadelphia has now lost 4 consecutive games.
