Dolphins Earn Clutch Win, 12-11
The Pine Island Dolphins weathered a fine game by Virginia Beach shortstop Jesús Figueroa to upend the Whales, 12-11, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Figueroa went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 7 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Jerry Bower in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Eduardo Fajardo took the loss. The Dolphins raised their record to 6-4.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, top prospect Salmon P. Chase had a chance to be the hero. Virginia Beach pitcher Jack Barr wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Chase hit a sacrifice fly. The Dolphins had themselves a thrilling win.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Chase told the Pine Island Observer. "Whatever it takes."
