Loons Get One-Run Win at Lancaster
The Minnesota Loons used a great performance from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Benson to beat the Lancaster Farmers, 2-1, at Farmers Field. Benson, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Don Perry closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Phil Maddox had a big hit for Minnesota in the top of the second inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0, Maddox hit a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Loons up, 2-0.

"Jeff gave us a heck of an effort," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck.

The win gives Minnesota a record of 8-3.
