The Pine Island Dolphins picked up a win at Goodyear Hanger Dome, downing the Virginia Beach Whales, 4-2. On the mound for Pine Island was left-hander Bob Smithley, who played a pivotal role in the win. The triumph makes Pine Island 8-3, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2061.

Smithley was effective against the Whales, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The left-hander limited Virginia Beach to just 2 runs on 3 hits over 8 innings.
