Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Whales
The Virginia Beach Whales found a way to sneak past the Casper Ghosts, 5-4, in 10 innings. Virginia Beach pitcher Miguel Martínez, for one, had a standout performance. The winner in relief was Carl van Bekenes. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. "Lousy" describes the Casper performance in the early going.

The Whales got a clutch hit from right fielder Brian Pilgrim. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Whales.
