The Ottawa Fat Cats beat the Pine Island Dolphins, 6-4, at Nationals Park. Ottawa shortstop Luis Mata led the way. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Lowell Martin. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 2. Ottawa is now 7-7.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ottawa pinch hitter Jay Welch gave his team the lead. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Kingfish hit his 1st home run of the year. Pine Island pitcher Brady Thomas surrendered it. With that, the Fat Cats jumped in front, 4-3.
