Billings Polar Bears pitcher Hideki Takahashi was in top form, leading his team past the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-1. The Polar Bears raised their record to 11-3.

Tony Flores, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AA in triples with 1, had a direct impact on the outcome. Flores contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Billings up, 1-0.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Marv Bradford.
