Charleston Battery starter Rubén Sánchez turned in an exceptional performance against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Charleston Armory, resulting in a Charleston win, 5-2. With the victory, the Battery record now stands at 17-20.

The Battery got an important contribution from catcher Bryan Spilsbury, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 2-0 cutter into center for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Battery ahead, 4-0.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Sánchez told the Charleston Observer.
