Oaks Beaten By Battery, 5-1

The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Charleston Armory, topping the Oakland Oaks, 5-1. On the mound for Charleston was right-hander Pablo Valentín. He played a principal role in the triumph. Their 23-14 record puts the Battery 4th in the Third League.
Vernon Farr had a big grand slam home run for the Battery in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Charleston leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from Larry Lambert, who is tied for 2nd in the 3L in wins with 5, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Battery on top, 5-0.
"Pablo's a gamer," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt. "Glad he's on our side."
