With Late Score, Battery Beat Oaks
|
The Oakland Oaks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Daniel Cummins into a win. Instead, the Charleston Battery prevailed, 4-3, in 16 innings. Cummins threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Tim Thompson earned the save for Charleston, his 1st of the year. The Battery saw their win-loss record go to 23-15. At the same time, the Oaks fell to 20-18.
George Dailey had a direct impact on the outcome. Dailey contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 16th inning to put Charleston up, 4-3.
"It was a good effort all around," said Dailey.
