5-4 Dayton Win Thrills Crowd
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ben Sackett into a win. Instead, the Dayton Dirty Reds prevailed, 5-4, in 10 innings. Sackett threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win went to Mike Carney in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Darius Brooks took the loss. After today's action, Dayton sits at 24-14; Thunder Bay slips to 19-19.
The decisive blow was delivered by Vasan Parthiban in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Darius Brooks to win the game for Dayton. The home crowd went nuts.
"We had a chance to win," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams, "but we didn't get it done."
