Marvin Velásquez, who is tied for 7th in the PL in strikeouts with 70, imposed his will on the Shredders from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Memphis triumph. Lawrence Wood recorded the save for Memphis, his 6th of the season. The Mockingbirds are now 27-34, while the Shredders fall to 24-37.
José Roseta, who is tied for 8th in the PL in triples with 2, contributed to the Memphis win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Marvin never lets off the gas," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten. "Good, bad, or ugly, he never gives in."
