Cape Coral got a strong outing from William Morris as the Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 3-2, at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Morris yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-2. Cape Coral, now 20-19, holds down 4th place in the Third League.

Cape Coral got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Brian Byrd. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hurricanes ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"When you're winning, you walk a little taller," said Hurricanes manager Greg Diersing.
