The Oakland Oaks beat the Dayton Dirty Reds, 7-2. Oakland pitcher and Orlando, Florida, native Alfonso Sánchez led the way. Sánchez yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1. The win makes Oakland 22-18.
Oakland right fielder Raúl Vega landed a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 8th home run of the season. With it, the Oaks took a 3-0 lead.
