The Boston Patriots rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Cordell Dawson to a win, beating the Buffalo White Walkers, 2-1, at Dunkin Donuts Park. The winner was Dawson. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Howard Randolph. Orlando Díaz, credited with the save, is now 4 for 4 in save opportunities.

Will Johnson did the little things right to help the team for Boston. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Howard Randolph. It was his 15th RBI of the season.

"We were in it," said Buffalo manager Chris Lau. "We just didn't score enough runs."

With the win, Boston pushed its record to 36-25.
