Ponies Claim Late Win
|
The Kingston Ponies defeated the D.C. Divided, 5-3, at Washington Stadium. Leading the charge for Kingston was left fielder Mitsuo Suzuki. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher William Elliott in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jeremy Robinson took the loss. Fred Hull earned the save for Kingston.
Kingston used the timely hitting of Pramana Ananas to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ponies on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Ananas.
Kingston is 11th in the Third League with a record of 18-25.
