The Dayton Dirty Reds rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Jim Hunter to a win, beating the Buckhead Bowties, 5-2, at 5 Paces Park. Hunter, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Mike Carney, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

Bob Dennis came through with a big-time hit for Dayton. The right fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Hunter.

The 'W' lifts Dayton's record to 29-15.
