Northern Lions BC Score Late, Upend Leviathan, 4-2
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC faced a tough opponent in Nova Scotia pitcher Steve Sanford, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Dungeon in Halifax by a final score of 4-2. Sanford went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. The 8th-place Leviathan dropped to 21-23.
Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Johnny Edwards to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Northern Lions BC on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
