Thunder Bay wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Olaf Blees, losing to Kingston, 2-1, at Megaffin Park. Kingston reliever Li-ping Cheng snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Steve Hale shouldered the loss. The Ponies move to 22-25 with the win, while the Northern Lions BC drop to 16-31.

Kingston took a 2-1 lead on David Vargas's 17th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Vargas hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Thunder Bay pitcher Steve Hale visibly frustrated.

Vargas called the win "a team effort."
