Oaks Tag Northern Lions BC with 5-2 Loss
|
The Oakland Oaks beat the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 5-2. Oakland pitcher and Lincoln, Nebraska, native Scott Bishop led the way. Fernando Fonseca recorded the save for Oakland, his 5th of the season. The Oaks improved their record to 25-26 with the win over Thunder Bay.
The result might have been different, had it not been for two-time Outstanding Hitter Award winner José Eiriz. Eiriz had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put the Oaks ahead, 3-2. For the game, Eiriz had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Scott pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
