In a tight tilt between the Vancouver Grey Wolves and the Kingston Ponies, Dionísio Zagallo was the deciding factor. The Vancouver right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The winner was Zagallo. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was George Taylor. Vancouver has 4 straight wins, Kingston 5 straight losses.
Robin Merlet had a big 2-run double for the Grey Wolves in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Vancouver leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 28-year old right-handed pitcher George Taylor and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grey Wolves ahead, 3-0.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Vancouver skipper David Krause. "I can't complain."
