The Charleston Battery wasted an impressive 7.2-inning effort from starter Pham Phung, falling, 2-1, to the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Great Northern Field. Steve Hale earned the save, his 5th. Today's win puts Thunder Bay at 26-26, while Charleston falls to 25-27.

Frankie Mazeltov had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Thunder Bay. He came through with a 2-run single to put Thunder Bay in front, 2-1.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Mazeltov told the Thunder Bay Observer.
