Battery Come Up Short at D.C., 2-1
|
Washington Stadium was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The D.C. Divided picked up a win at Washington Stadium, courtesy of Ignacio Rodríguez. The left-hander helped his team stop the Charleston Battery, 2-1. Tommy Huber closed it out for D.C., earning his 14th save.
Brian Davis had a big solo home run for the Divided in the bottom of the first inning. With D.C. leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Gary Mosley, who finished 4th in the 3L in innings pitched with 172.0 in 2060, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Divided on top, 2-0.
"It was a good effort all around," said Rodríguez.
After today's action, D.C. sits at 26-27; Charleston slips to 31-22.
