The Cape Coral Hurricanes topped the Oakland Oaks, 6-2, in Menard's Third League action at The Oak Grove. The standout performance belonged to Cape Coral pitcher and Tuckahoe, Virginia, native Diego Pounds. Cape Coral is 28-28 and Oakland, with the loss, 29-27.

Cape Coral used the timely hitting of Miguel Núñez to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hurricanes on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Pounds.
