The Pittsburgh Kingfishers got a superb performance from pitcher Richard Miller, but the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC still won the game, 4-1. Miller threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Reliever Wulf Hinkamp picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Ernie Gibson took the loss. Daniel Ricciardo recorded the save for Thunder Bay, his 6th of the season.
In the bottom of the seventh, Thunder Bay left fielder Shintaro Hagi gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Workhorse hit his 11th double of the year. Pittsburgh pitcher Ernie Gibson surrendered it. With that, the Northern Lions BC jumped in front, 2-1.
Hagi called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
At 23-33, the Northern Lions BC are currently 11th in the Third League.
