Big Day at the Plate for Saunders Not Enough for Stingers
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Joe Saunders, the Toledo Stingers lost to the Mexico City Blue Demons, 5-3. Saunders was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The save went to Stanley Thompson, his 11th this season. The Blue Demons improved their record to 26-37 by beating Toledo.

Joe Raymond, who is on pace for 77 RBI this season, took Toledo hurler Mark Garland deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Blue Demons on top, 4-2. In all, Raymond had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
