Ponies Earn Late 7-6 Win
|
The Kingston Ponies besoiled an otherwise fine performance by D.C. designated hitter Claudio Martínez by beating the Divided, 7-6, at Washington Stadium. Martínez was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Kingston reliever Fred Hull picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Carlton Taylor was tagged with the loss. Kingston has now won 4 games in a row.
Clifton Roberson drew 1 walk in 6 plate appearances, while adding 2 RBI against the Divided. With the game tied in the top of the 11th inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that put Kingston in front, 7-6.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Ponies manager Rayzor Ray.
